SUUUUUUHHHHH!

This is exactly what the Lions need.  A bad dude with a mean streak.  Suh is trying to hurt Delhomme.  Question:  Why didn't the Browns have Delhomme's back?

Team USA barely avoids huge upset, win 70-68

The Americans pulled out a tough nail biter that had a superb finish, boosting their record to 3-0 in the FIBA World Basketball Championship.  Durant led all scorers with 27 and Chauncey Billups had 15 points including a huge running bank shot to put the U.S. up by four with under a minute left.  Brazil scored quickly to cut the lead to two and after a Billups shot missed, they got rebound and guard Marco Huertas was fouled on his way to the basket.  He missed the first free throw and purposely missed the second.  Huertas got his own rebound and passed to Barbosa who missed a difficult shot as time expired.   The Brazilians hung tight for most of the game and were actually leading for what seemed to be all of the first half.  Why were the Brazilians able to keep the game so close?  Well they can shoot the 3 ball really well and they were causing turnovers.  Plus they have NBA players on the squad, Leandro Barbosa , Anderson Varejao (DNP).  One thing I felt hurt Team USA was the ina

Team USA: 99 Slovenia: 77

Hi World,   Team USA had another impressive showing in the World Basketball Championship by cruising to a big win over Slovenia.  The Americas were led by Kevin Durant 's easy 22 points and Kevin Love 's double double (10 points and 11 rebounds).  The second half was tough for Slovenia as they could not handle the athleticism of Rose, Westbrook and Stephen Curry. There was a small lapse in energy in quarter number two, but other than that we looked good.  Next up: Team USA vs. Brazil, today at 2:30 est.

FIBA World Basketball Championship (The B Team)

Image
With football upon us, its a given that most people aren't aware that the FIBA World Basketball Championship has started.  Team USA  blew out  Croatia yesterday in their first game.  The tourney started yesterday, its two weeks long, with games being played daily.  Led by  Kevin Durant and Chauncey Billups team USA is favored to finish in first and bring home the championship. FYI: Due to its lack of big name players, this versionTeam USA is being called the "B Team" by the international basketball community.

2010 NFC NORTH PREDICTIONS

1. Green Bay Packers 2. Minnesota Vikings 3. Chicago Bears 4, Detroit Lions There you have it, lets see how this pans out.

2010 Team Outlook: Minnesota Vikings

Image
Last year the Vikes ending their season with an overtime loss in the NFC Championship to the Saints, set up by a Brett Farve interception. This year the Vikings look to bounce back and make that one last push into the Super Bowl.  Anything else will likely be seen as a disappointment to both fans and pundits alike. The Vikings have a really tough schedule as they play the Saints, Jets, Cowboys and Packers all before week 8.  But if anyone can lead a young team to tough stretch its none other than Mr. Wrangler, with him at the helm the passing game is always going to be a major factor.  Behind him stands one of the best players in the league in all-world running back Adrian Peterson .  With all the Chris Johnson talk this off season, I look for him to come back this season with a venegance and with a cure for that pesky fumbling problem.  Farve has a really great group of wide outs at his diposable with Bernand Berrian and Percy Harvin , the tight end position is solidified with Visha

and they put the bull down?

I don't understand why the bull had to be killed exactly.  Any thoughts?  I feel sad for the 40 people injured though.  Anyway this happened yesterday in Spain.

LA Clippers unveil new uniforms

Image
The Los Angeles Clippers unveiled their new uniforms yesterday and truth be told, I  find them to be a bit boring.  I prefer the road orange to the home white, but overall I think they are a bit too simplistic.  Check out some more pics here:  LA Clippers new uniforms .

No more draws

After watching the World Cup and seeing a whole lot of ties, I wondered if FIFA would address this issue.  Well they are certainly considering the idea.  Read the rest of the story here:  No more ties!

2010 Team Outlook: Detroit Lions

Image
Detroit Lions:  It has been a very long time since the Lions made the playoffs or where even good for that matter.  Since 2000, 10 different quarterback have started and none of them has had much success.  After drafting quarterback Matthew Stafford the Lion are looking to buck the QB carousel trend and start winning some games.  Despite what many people think, Stafford had a good rookie season, just compare his stats to Mark Sanchez's and you'll see that they are almost identical. Overall the goal is very simple for the Lions: get a little better at every position and eek out  a few more wins.  This can be done by keeping Stafford upright and giving him a few more weapons.  Detroit hopes they've found a star in rookie running back Javid Bes t out of Cal.  He's small, fast and shifty.  He should be able to give the offense some much needed punch.   Calvin Johnson is a big time receiver and would be an even bigger star if he played for another team.  In order to get

Samuel L. Jackson is a Falcons Fan

I had no idea he was a football fan, much less an Atlanta Falcons fan.  Cool commercial though.

Say Hi to the Bad Guy

I have been indifferent towards Lebron James for most of his NBA career.  Other than the Olympics I can't recall ever actively rooting for him. But that all changed when he tweeted this yesterday "Don't think for one min that I haven't been taking mental notes of everyone taking shots at me this summer. And I mean everyone!" Dude has a list! Ha! I love it. I bet a bunch of those people on his list our in the media, so I wonder if he's going to stop being P.C. and just say what he really feels. How awesome would it be if the Heat just kept passing him the ball when they play the Cavs and he drops 50 on them! In the words of T.O., NBA fans get your popcorn ready.

2010 Team Outlook: Chicago Bears

Image
Chicago Bears : At the beginning of the 2009 season there was much hype and attention placed on the Bears, rightfully so, for the first time in a long while the team had a legitimate threat at quarterback with the addition of Jay Culter .  But, with an terrible losing streak from weeks 9-12 the Bears fell short of their expectations, failed to make the playoffs and put coach Lovie Smith on the hot seat.  So how will the 2010 campaign shake out for the bears?  Well I predict that they will finish better than last year's 7-9 record and heres why: Mike Martz .

2010 Team Outlook: Green Bay Packers

Green Bay Packers:  I think anything other than a division title would be a big disappointment for this team. They play in a weak division and they have a defense that intercepts a lot of balls and scores a lot as well.  On the other side of the ball, Aaron Rodgers is playing outstanding Quarterback, he only had seven interceptions last year to go along with his 33 touchdowns.  If the Packers can cut down on sacks he should be able to improve these numbers.  Skill positions?  Yeah they are good there.  RB Ryan Grant had 11 touchdowns and 1258 yards , WRs Driver and Jennings both went for over 1,000 yards, TE Jermicheal Finley chipped in with 676 yards and 5 touchdowns.  The Pack ended 2009 on a sour note by losing in the playoffs 51-45 to the Arizona Cardinals in a very excited shootout.  If their defense can tighten up a little bit more in the playoffs, this team might be headed to Dallas for the Super Bowl. Key pickups:  Rookie Offensive Tackle Bryan Bulaga Key losses:  Defensive

Will he or won't he? (stay retired).

What are the odds that Brett Favre stays retired this time?

WorldBeater's Fantasy Football Team

Hello World.  Its August which means football is just around the corner, which means FANTASY FOOTBALL is just around the corner.  I started a nice pay league called "The Arms Race", and my team name is the "7 Nation Army". It's not big money just $25 per team (10 teams), but money usually makes things much more interesting.  I have yet to begin my intensive fantasy research but, I think Joseph Addai will have a monster season, I'm talking a career year, over 1100 yards and 10 touchdowns.  I have a little over a month to prepare for the draft so I better get on it.  Don't worry I'll post the draft results the minute its over and I'll be posting my weekly results every Tuesday morning so be on the look out for that.  7 NATION ARMY!  ONWARD TO VICTORY!
