Its been awhile

Blogging has been a good experience, but now I'm on my way to another venture something really cool.  I will keep the world posted on the progress.  I 'll try to post at least once a week.

No mas (for now)

This will be my last post for awhile.  As I will be working on something big.  Thanks for your support!  I'll be back, bigger and BADDER

Hey Rockets fans, rate Yao's career thus far.

Image
When the Rockets drafted him, Houston was abuzz with the possibility of going to the NBA finals.  But since the big man has donned the red and white uniform, the Rockets haven't come close to finals.  To make matters worse, the last four seasons Yao has been pretty much non existent.  He hasn't played in more than 60 games a season since 2004 and completely missed last season.   I have to believe that his commitments to playing for the Chinese national team have hampered his NBA career, he has participated in the 2000, 2004, 2008 Olympics , the 2006 World Championships and the 2001, 2003 and 2005 FIBA Asian Championship .  His career hasn't been a total waste as he has been to several All-Star games and made many All-NBA teams.   It just feels that Houston was expecting much more from him.  His career is not over and he may still have some great basketball left to play.  However this will be difficult with the team announcing that his minutes will be capped at 25 per game

5 Reasons why boxing is becoming extinct

Image
5.  The Mayweather Pacquaio fight will probably never happen.  Manny will fight a few more times then retire to a life of pickup basketball and politics.  Floyd has been charged with 8 crimes, 4 of which are felonies and will more than likely spend the next 12 months dealing with these legal issues.  One many thought would be the best fight of the last 10-15 years will never happen. 4.  The Heavyweight division is lackluster at best.  This is the only division that many Americans even care about and it hasn't been good in a long while.  The division is now run by a pair of giant Russian brothers who refuse to fight each other and America's hope lies with ex-college football and basketball players. 3.  Pay-per-view. At this point, does the WBC, WBA, IBF, Golden Boy or whoever really think that people are going to shell out the bucks to watch boxing?   Pacquaio v. Clottey , weak fight, weak undercard. (Happy I didn't pay for it).   Mosley v. Mora , another weak fight. (Ha

How can a team recuperate after losing a game by 69 points?!  Well,  Portland St. will have a week to think of something as they got blasted 69-0 , by (5) Oregon .  The score was 69-0 when the third quarter ended and Oregon decided to call off the dogs.  I guess calling off the dogs is okay, but still searching for that 100 point game.

12 Creepiest Masks in Movie History

I remember when I was in high school and I saw " Scream ", I still think that mask is the greatest thing ever.  The rest of these are pretty creepy to.  Has anyone ever seen " Dark Night of the Scarecrow " ?  Check the rest of the  mask.

A big time NFL trade that needs to happen

Image
The Colts need a space eater, a big tackle to clog up the middle and prevent people for rushing for over 200 yards on them, see  Arian Foster .  This is something that needs to be addressed immediately.  The Redskins on the other hand would be wise to pick up a big, tall, fast receiver to compliment McNabb, the sooner they get this receiver the better.  So I propose that the Redskins trade disgruntled DT Albert Haynesworth to the Colts in exchange for  Pierre Garcon .  Losing one of them wouldn't really effect Manning too much, its not like he doesn't have 3 or 4 other targets to throw it to.  Shananah would probably love to get Haynseworth off the team and pick up a young receiver to compliment Santana Moss .  This trade would help both right away, the Colts rushing defense can't get any worse.

Just in case you missed it...THE STAGE IS SET!

Keith Brooking fires the 'boys up pre-game.  Whatcha think?

Not so popular players

The top five disliked athletes according to the Q scores company are: 1) Mike Vick 2) Tiger Woods 3) Terrell Owens 4) Chad Ochocinco 5) Kobe Bryant .  I never understood the point of these polls.  They really don't prove or say much.  Well at least now you know who America hates.

Lopsided College Football Score of the Week

Image
The absurdity continues with  Connecticut routing TSU 62-3 and Maryland doing the same to Morgan St. 62-3.  I'm just waiting for 100-0 score.   *Bonus stat of the week Michigan QB Denard Robinson 502 total yards, 244 passing yards and 258 rushing yards.   Michigan had 532 total yards.  Yeah lets just say he makes the Wolverines go.

Allen "The Answer" Iverson

I remember when this guy was the most exciting thing about the NBA.  Now A.I. is considering playing in China?  Why?  I really don't get it.  Why not just hold open workouts and let teams see that you are serious about making a last run at it.  I just fear that if he goes to China thats the last we'll here of him.  Here are some of the highlights from his career: All Rookie First Team (1997), Rookie of the Year (1997), NBA MVP (2001), 4x Scoring Champion (1999, 2001, 2002, 2005) All NBA Third Team (2006), All NBA Second Team (2000, 2002, 200) All NBA First Team (1999. 2001, 2005),  oh we can't forget this:

Red, White and Gold

Image
Well no real surprise here.  The "B-Team" rolled through the best the world could offer and brought home shiny gold medals.  It had been 16 years since America won the gold at the World Championships, but the drought is over as the Americans  cruised  over Turkey 81-64.   Its good to see that America is once again dominant on the world basketball stage.

5 Reasons the Baltimore Ravens will win the Super Bowl

Image
(5) They don't have to worry about the Saints.  (Just too difficult to repeat)  (4) Depth at the receiver- Boldin, Mason, Stallworth, Houshmandzadeh.  (3)  Depth in back field- Rice, McGahee, McClain. (2) Not much change in personnel.  They didn't lose any key players on either side of the ball.   (1) Because the four previous reasons didn't mention the defense.  For the first time in nearly a decade, the  Baltimore Raven defense is not the scariest part of the team.

Stephania Bell gots guts

Image
Stephania Bell is the injury reporter for ESPN, she predicted the San Fransisco 49ers to win the Super Bowl!  I kid you not.  She picked them over the San Diego Chargers , I'm not sure if she's serious or just rooting for her home team (Bell is from San Fran).  Either way this is the gustiest Super Bowl I've come across thus far.  Check out her  prediction.

Lopsided College Football Score of the Week

#11 Oregon rolls New Mexico, 72-0.  Yep thats right 72-0! Here are some interesting stats from the game: Oregon racked up 720 total yards, 351 passing and 369 rushing!  The score was 59-0 at the half!  Check out Oregon running back Kenjon Barner's stat line, 147 yds on 17 carries with 4 rushing  touchdowns and 60 receiving yards with 1 receiving touchdown.  College Football is back America!

Team USA update

Image
Ahhh the Americans, since I last posted on the "B Team", they've played twice.  A  stomping  of Iran and basically a  practice session  against Tunisia.  America finishes the preliminary round 5-0, led by Kevin Durant (17.8 ppg) and Kevin Love (6.6 rpg), next up is the knockout round.  Angola will be the next up for Team USA, tip-off is Monday at 11:00 AM est.

FIBA Mascot (Bascat)

Meet Bascat the mascot for the FIBA World Basketball Championship.  I like him, I think he looks good and was well thought out.  A basketball playing cat...simple enough. One blue eye, one green eye, uhh kinda weird but I'm sure the kiddies love it.   Learn more about Bascat .

Slick James "Lights Out" Toney

Image
Now that a few days have passed and the dust has settled lets take a minute to examine the Randy Couture vs. James Toney or as some less civilized would call the MMA vs. Boxing match. First off not taking away anything from Randy he had a job to do and he did it but clearly James was just looking to make a lot of noise with this fight and he succeeded. He couldn't get down to any kind of athletic shape if his life depended on it and his big money boxing days are clearly behind him even though he holds some type of joke boxing belt. So in a moment of pure genius he plays off of a debate that has been brewing in the combat sports underworld, Who would win a fight The Boxer or The Mixed Martial Artist. Now both of these boys were in there prime when i was failing English in Jr. High so to say this is even close to a true test of that question is absolutely absurd. Dana White, James Toney, Randy Couture and whoever other suits that were involved managed to rile up the uncivilized I sp

Team USA barely avoids huge upset, win 70-68

The Americans pulled out a tough nail biter that had a superb finish, boosting their record to 3-0 in the FIBA World Basketball Championship.  Durant led all scorers with 27 and Chauncey Billups had 15 points including a huge running bank shot to put the U.S. up by four with under a minute left.  Brazil scored quickly to cut the lead to two and after a Billups shot missed, they got rebound and guard Marco Huertas was fouled on his way to the basket.  He missed the first free throw and purposely missed the second.  Huertas got his own rebound and passed to Barbosa who missed a difficult shot as time expired.   The Brazilians hung tight for most of the game and were actually leading for what seemed to be all of the first half.  Why were the Brazilians able to keep the game so close?  Well they can shoot the 3 ball really well and they were causing turnovers.  Plus they have NBA players on the squad, Leandro Barbosa , Anderson Varejao (DNP).  One thing I felt hurt Team USA was the ina

Team USA: 99 Slovenia: 77

Image
Hi World,   Team USA had another impressive showing in the World Basketball Championship by cruising to a big win over Slovenia.  The Americas were led by Kevin Durant 's easy 22 points and Kevin Love 's double double (10 points and 11 rebounds).  The second half was tough for Slovenia as they could not handle the athleticism of Rose, Westbrook and Stephen Curry. There was a small lapse in energy in quarter number two, but other than that we looked good.  Next up: Team USA vs. Brazil, today at 2:30 est.

FIBA World Basketball Championship (The B Team)

Image
With football upon us, its a given that most people aren't aware that the FIBA World Basketball Championship has started.  Team USA  blew out  Croatia yesterday in their first game.  The tourney started yesterday, its two weeks long, with games being played daily.  Led by  Kevin Durant and Chauncey Billups team USA is favored to finish in first and bring home the championship. FYI: Due to its lack of big name players, this versionTeam USA is being called the "B Team" by the international basketball community.

2010 NFC NORTH PREDICTIONS

1. Green Bay Packers 2. Minnesota Vikings 3. Chicago Bears 4, Detroit Lions There you have it, lets see how this pans out.

2010 Team Outlook: Minnesota Vikings

Image
Last year the Vikes ending their season with an overtime loss in the NFC Championship to the Saints, set up by a Brett Farve interception. This year the Vikings look to bounce back and make that one last push into the Super Bowl.  Anything else will likely be seen as a disappointment to both fans and pundits alike. The Vikings have a really tough schedule as they play the Saints, Jets, Cowboys and Packers all before week 8.  But if anyone can lead a young team to tough stretch its none other than Mr. Wrangler, with him at the helm the passing game is always going to be a major factor.  Behind him stands one of the best players in the league in all-world running back Adrian Peterson .  With all the Chris Johnson talk this off season, I look for him to come back this season with a venegance and with a cure for that pesky fumbling problem.  Farve has a really great group of wide outs at his diposable with Bernand Berrian and Percy Harvin , the tight end position is solidified with Visha

I don't understand why the bull had to be killed exactly.  Any thoughts?  I feel sad for the 40 people injured though.  Anyway this happened yesterday in Spain.

LA Clippers unveil new uniforms

Image
The Los Angeles Clippers unveiled their new uniforms yesterday and truth be told, I  find them to be a bit boring.  I prefer the road orange to the home white, but overall I think they are a bit too simplistic.  Check out some more pics here:  LA Clippers new uniforms .

No more draws

After watching the World Cup and seeing a whole lot of ties, I wondered if FIFA would address this issue.  Well they are certainly considering the idea.  Read the rest of the story here:  No more ties!

2010 Team Outlook: Detroit Lions

Image
Detroit Lions:  It has been a very long time since the Lions made the playoffs or where even good for that matter.  Since 2000, 10 different quarterback have started and none of them has had much success.  After drafting quarterback Matthew Stafford the Lion are looking to buck the QB carousel trend and start winning some games.  Despite what many people think, Stafford had a good rookie season, just compare his stats to Mark Sanchez's and you'll see that they are almost identical. Overall the goal is very simple for the Lions: get a little better at every position and eek out  a few more wins.  This can be done by keeping Stafford upright and giving him a few more weapons.  Detroit hopes they've found a star in rookie running back Javid Bes t out of Cal.  He's small, fast and shifty.  He should be able to give the offense some much needed punch.   Calvin Johnson is a big time receiver and would be an even bigger star if he played for another team.  In order to get

Say Hi to the Bad Guy

Image
I have been indifferent towards Lebron James for most of his NBA career.  Other than the Olympics I can't recall ever actively rooting for him. But that all changed when he tweeted this yesterday "Don't think for one min that I haven't been taking mental notes of everyone taking shots at me this summer. And I mean everyone!" Dude has a list! Ha! I love it. I bet a bunch of those people on his list our in the media, so I wonder if he's going to stop being P.C. and just say what he really feels. How awesome would it be if the Heat just kept passing him the ball when they play the Cavs and he drops 50 on them! In the words of T.O., NBA fans get your popcorn ready.

Greatest Catch Ever?

2010 Team Outlook: Chicago Bears

Image
Chicago Bears : At the beginning of the 2009 season there was much hype and attention placed on the Bears, rightfully so, for the first time in a long while the team had a legitimate threat at quarterback with the addition of Jay Culter .  But, with an terrible losing streak from weeks 9-12 the Bears fell short of their expectations, failed to make the playoffs and put coach Lovie Smith on the hot seat.  So how will the 2010 campaign shake out for the bears?  Well I predict that they will finish better than last year's 7-9 record and heres why: Mike Martz .

2010 Team Outlook: Green Bay Packers

Green Bay Packers:  I think anything other than a division title would be a big disappointment for this team. They play in a weak division and they have a defense that intercepts a lot of balls and scores a lot as well.  On the other side of the ball, Aaron Rodgers is playing outstanding Quarterback, he only had seven interceptions last year to go along with his 33 touchdowns.  If the Packers can cut down on sacks he should be able to improve these numbers.  Skill positions?  Yeah they are good there.  RB Ryan Grant had 11 touchdowns and 1258 yards , WRs Driver and Jennings both went for over 1,000 yards, TE Jermicheal Finley chipped in with 676 yards and 5 touchdowns.  The Pack ended 2009 on a sour note by losing in the playoffs 51-45 to the Arizona Cardinals in a very excited shootout.  If their defense can tighten up a little bit more in the playoffs, this team might be headed to Dallas for the Super Bowl. Key pickups:  Rookie Offensive Tackle Bryan Bulaga Key losses:  Defensive

Will he or won't he? (stay retired).

What are the odds that Brett Favre stays retired this time?

Get ready for some great post on boxing and MMA.  Heres a nice little video to get you in the mood.

WorldBeater's Fantasy Football Team

Hello World.  Its August which means football is just around the corner, which means FANTASY FOOTBALL is just around the corner.  I started a nice pay league called "The Arms Race", and my team name is the "7 Nation Army". It's not big money just $25 per team (10 teams), but money usually makes things much more interesting.  I have yet to begin my intensive fantasy research but, I think Joseph Addai will have a monster season, I'm talking a career year, over 1100 yards and 10 touchdowns.  I have a little over a month to prepare for the draft so I better get on it.  Don't worry I'll post the draft results the minute its over and I'll be posting my weekly results every Tuesday morning so be on the look out for that.  7 NATION ARMY!  ONWARD TO VICTORY!

Our Favorite People: Dan Gilbert aka The Joker

Since I started this blog I've been toying with the idea of keeping a list of all the kooks in sports, you know all the people that make sports funny and more than just about jumping and running.  After a little thought I decided that I was going to do it.  So here you are, the first inductee to the "Our Favorite People" list:  Dan Gilbert or as I like to call him "The Joker".  By now you have either heard or read his letter to the city of Cleveland following LBJ deciding to head to Miami. If you haven't here it is.... The Joker Letter .   In addition to the letter he reduced to the price of LBJ's Cleveland Cavaliers poster to $17.41, to coincide with the birth of Benedict Arnold.  ME LOVES IT!  This guys is off his. Congratulations Mr. Gilbert you made the list.   Interesting Note:  This list starts as of July 1st 2010.  Which is why T.O. isn't on it....yet.

Still got that Soccer itch?

Interesting enough, I still have a hankering for some soccer.  But honestly the MLS doesn't really cut it for me, I wanna see the best players in the world play.  You know, the Forlans and Villas of the game.  Luckily this year's MLS All-Star game pits the MLS's best against Manchester United, a storied soccer franchise with some of the best players in the world.  The MLS roster has just recently been set and includes Landon Donovan, coming off a superb World Cup performance it will be exciting to see what he can do against Man U.  Here is the rest of the MLS squad  http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/all-star-roster-set-clash-manchester-utd .

Tiger and Kobe: America's favorite athletes

According to a Harris International Poll release last night, Kobe Bryant and Tiger Woods are tied in first place for America's Favorite athlete.  This comes as no surprise as Kobe is a back to back NBA champion and finals MVP and Tiger Wood's body of work is outstanding and will presumably continue to astound fans.  It also shows that all we care about in this country is winning.  Which to me is a good thing, the personal life's of athletes is really none of our business unless they choose to share it with us.  So while the media outlets slam athletes for whatever faults they may have, at the end of the day the American people realize that they athletes are paid to win, and if you win we love you.   The rest of the list is as follows: Derek Jeter (3), Brett Farve (4) Peyton Manning (5), Lebron James (6), Micheal Jordan (7), Tom Brady (8), Drew Brees (9), Dale Ernhardt Jr. (10).

Stay Cool, America

I know its hot as blazes outside, but please be safe and drink lots of water and stay cool.  If you are working out try and do so in the morning and evening.  Its the hottest year on record and it certainly feels that way, but not to worry, soon it will be Fall and those dry tumbleweeds rolling past will be replaced by flurries of falling leaves AND FOOTBALL!!  I know many of you haven't had a chance to keep up with the happenings of your favorite squad, so let NFL.com catch you up.   Each team gets about a 7 minute recap of the moves they've made and the moves they need to make.  Thank you NFL.com.   http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-32-teams-in-32-days

WorldBeaters Movie Review: Inception

This is a sports blog, but occasionally we'll give a movie review.  Today we'll review "Inception". I saw "Inception" Friday night and thought it was awesome.  Leonardo Dicaprio was good in it, but as with most of the films he's in I feel like his character isn't the most interesting.  For example in "Gangs of New York", Bill the Butcher blows Leo off the screen.  Same thing happens to Leo in the "Departed" with the Mark Walberg and Alec Baldwin characters.  But I can't say he did a bad job in "Inception", I give him a B+.  The movie had a very "Matrix" feel to it and I mean that as a compliment.  The movie is ripe for a sequel (or two), a comic book, a tv show, etc, etc.  It is easily the best movie I've seen this year and should get some Oscar nominations.  WorldBeaters gives Inception an "A".  Strong lead actor, super strong supporting cast, super slick visuals and best of all an inventiv

Dear Ole Miss,

Image
According to knoxnews.com, you guys are currently searching for a new mascot.  I hear you still want to be  called the Rebels, but you feel like "Colonel Reb" is too old south and you've narrowed the mascot choices down to either a horse, a lion, a bear, a land shark or a hotty and toddy.   Lets eliminate the land shark and the lion right off the bat.  Lion is way over used in the mascot world and what does a land shark have to do with Ole Miss?  Bear and horse are out.  Both are overused as well.  A hotty and toddy?  Really?  Your mascot is going to be an alcoholic beverage? Nope not really smart for a college to use alcohol as a mascot.  To be perfectly honest I think the school needs a name and mascot change.   An old southern school that calls itself the "Rebels" just screams old south.  Not to worry Ole Miss, Hugo Brie is on it.  Naming teams is something I do, I'm pretty good at it. So here go with this: The University of Mississippi Oxen aka the Ole

30 for 30

Every time I see a promo for one of ESPN's 30 for 30 films I get very emotional.  I have no idea why?  Sports is just one of those things that touches my emotions.  Of all the movies that I watched only 2 have made me tear up.  The first was "The Godfather 3" and the other was sports-related, "Million Dollar Baby."  So if you are like me and have a strong emotional connection to sports you will love the "30 for 30" series on ESPN. The films are  a collection of sports-docs by different directors that touch a wide variety of sports topics, from Reggie Miller and the Knicks to Ali vs. Larry Holmes.  One of my faves has been "Silly Little Game" which chronicled the rise of fantasy sports and "Run Ricky Run"  which covers the career of the one and only Ricky Williams.  If you haven't been watching they replay them all the time and look out for the new films that are gonna be aired in the next few months.   Trailer below.

Football in July

A few years ago the MLB decided to spice up its All-Star game by making it worth something.  The winning league gets home field advantage in the World Series.  I have always thought that this was a great decision, its great to see players actually get excited when they win an All-star game.  So I started to think, how could the NFL improve the Pro Bowl?

World Cup Wrap-up

Good job to Spain for winning a tough, gritty championship game.  It wasn't the most beautiful game, but a win is a win and thats all that counts.  Andres Iniesta's goal in extra time sent the streets of Madrid into a frenzy and put the Red Fury into the record books.

Ahh, to be a Knicks fan...

It's been a tough decade for the New York Knickerbockers.  Just how tough?  Check this out. http://nymag.com/news/intelligencer/topic/67151/

How many rings you got?

Lets get right to it.  I wanted him to stay in Cleveland for his whole career, title or no titles, it would have been nice. But things didn't work out that way.  He wanted to get some rings and avoid becoming the next Charles Barkley.  I'm sure Chuck feels nice and warm inside every time Kenny Smith reminds him that he is ringless.  But as Micheal Wilbon pointed out a few years back, to be considered one of the greatest players in history you have to win rings.  Not one, but more than one.  Ask anyone who they think the greatest player of all time is, I bet you get a lot of MJ (6 rings), Magic (5 rings), Bird (3 rings), Kareem (6 rings), Russell (11 rings) and those are just the retired players.  Look at the guys who are still playing, Duncan is considered by many to be the best power forward ever, he has four rings and counting.  Kobe, another all time great has 5 and counting.  So you see folks this is what Lebron is up against.  We appointed him the next MJ, Magic or whoever

World Cup Finals Prediction: Spain vs. Netherlands

Let me start off by saying that the way Spain played against Germany in the semi-final game was wonderful.  Yep wonderful.  It was the best ball handling I've seen by any team thus far.  I don't even remember Germany ever having the ball.  Germany could not set up their vaunted counter-attacked because Spain just passed the ball around and attacked the German goalie from distance and from up close.  Spain finally broke through the German defense with a header in the 73rd minute.  Germany could never really recover or build any momentum and lost 1-0.  On to the preview!

Those who have signed... (Part Two: Chris Bosh addition)

Well it looks like free agent power forward Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade will sign with the Miami Heat and form a nice one-two punch. We all know who Dwayne Wade is, but who is this Chris Bosh guy? Heres a quick rundown: 1. He played a year at Georgia Tech 2. Was picked fourth by the Toronto Raptors in the 2003 NBA draft behind Lebron, Darko, and Carmelo. 3. Over his 7 seasons he's averaging a double-double (20 ppg) and (10 rpg) 4. He's the Raptors all time leader in virtually EVERY category. (I'm not kidding) 5. He's also a five time all-star His game: Good rebounder, on both ends of the court. He has a real nice first step that gets him close to the basket for dunks and layups. His mid range jumper is good at 44%; which means other big men can't play off him. Best of all he can make free throws! Shooting 80% lifetime from the stripe. There you have it, player profile: Chris Bosh. And if you don't know, now you know.

Those who have signed...

Hakim Warrick signed a 4 year, $18 million deal with the Phoenix Suns. I like the move, Warrick is young, has long arms and is athletic, he has great upside and I think his best years are still ahead of him. This move pretty much confirms that the Suns and Amare are a thing of the past. The Suns also signed forward Channing Frye , the 3 point specialist had some tough games against the Lakers in the playoffs, but when he gets it going the Suns are hard to stop. I would to see him post up just a little bit more.

UFC 116: Lesnar v. Carwin

Lesnar v. Carwin To say this is going be a big match is a massive understatement; its one of the most anticipated matches in UFC history. Carwin: Record:12-0, 12 KOs Shane Carwin is the man who Joe Rogan described as having "sledgehammers for fist." He's big, aggressive and knows how to strike. If he can keep this fight up right I think he has a huge advantage. The way he has been able to dismantle all of his opponents has been nothing short of amazing. I actually thought that he would lose his last fight to Frank Mir, but he really impressed and shocked when he won by KO. Lesnar: Record:4-1, 2 KOs Big Brock Lesnar on the other hand has spent the last year recovering from an intestinal disorder. So I think he will be a little rusty, that rust will make the difference. Lesnar's strength is his bulk and his ground and pound. If this fight hits the mat Lesnar is in his zone. I just don't see anybody getting up once he puts all of his bulk and weight on top of

New Favorite Commercial

This commercial is a call to arms. It makes me wanna build something, knock something down and build it back up, bigger and better. It makes me wanna buy a tool belt, some overalls and look for stuff to do around the house. It make me want to...well, buy American. It's called the "Jeep Grand Cherokee Manifesto Commercial." Enjoy.

D-Wade

I applaud D-Wade. It seems he is at the center of this Free Agency hype, but in a good way. It looks like he's trying to convince other players into playing for the Heat. Thats what superstars are supposed to do. You make great players come to you and build the team around you. I'm so happy he's not hopping on flights and being wine and dined by a bevy of hopeful teams. Props to D-Wade for that.

Would it be so wrong?

With NBA free agency less than 2 hours away and the world waiting to see who goes where, I sat back and thought about one Lebron James. The NBA's biggest star has a big decision to make and he must be feeling a serious amount of pressure on his shoulders.

Welcome

Hi All, Welcome to the WorldBeaters Sports Blog. This blog will contain my ramblings on sports and other subjects, but mostly sports. Enough with the formalities lets just dive in shall we? I'm still a little sad that Team USA was bounced out of the World Cup. I thought they would at least make it to the round of 8. Oh well. They had a good showing and we should all be proud. Look out world the Yanks are coming! See ya in four years. With that said, I think Brazil will take the cup back to Sao Paulo. I predict a Brazil-Argentina final. Both teams have looked really good, and Argentina has made it this far without the dominance of Messi. He's played well but I'm really surprised by some of their other players. But Brazil will win for know other reason that they have a player on their team named Kaka. Best name in the World Cup easily. I must admit that even though I am not the biggest soccer fan in the world, watching the World Cup has been a pleasant surprise
