Slick James "Lights Out" Toney

Now that a few days have passed and the dust has settled lets take a minute to examine the Randy Couture vs. James Toney or as some less civilized would call the MMA vs. Boxing match. First off not taking away anything from Randy he had a job to do and he did it but clearly James was just looking to make a lot of noise with this fight and he succeeded. He couldn't get down to any kind of athletic shape if his life depended on it and his big money boxing days are clearly behind him even though he holds some type of joke boxing belt. So in a moment of pure genius he plays off of a debate that has been brewing in the combat sports underworld, Who would win a fight The Boxer or The Mixed Martial Artist. Now both of these boys were in there prime when i was failing English in Jr. High so to say this is even close to a true test of that question is absolutely absurd. Dana White, James Toney, Randy Couture and whoever other suits that were involved managed to rile up the uncivilized I spoke of before and get a huge payday (probably Randy and James last). All credit has to be given to Slick James though because he is the one who put himself out there. He is the one stepping in to the cage not Randy stepping into the ring. Even in the laughable state he showed up in i'm sure if it was straight boxing he would have KNOCKED OUT Randy that night. So before everyone jumps on the MMA bandwagon lets not forget that it was an MMA fight not boxing match. If they boxed Randy said himself he knows he would lose, so when it comes down to it the argument in itself is flawed. Even if Randy could beat James at boxing that's just those two clowns. Every case would be different. Below is a quick reminder on who James Toney really is and why he will always be a prominent name in the boxing world.

  1. I don't think anybody is surprised that James Toney lost. I think they are surprised at how quickly he lost and how he didn't do anything in the fight.

  5. That man went from a washed up boxer to the hot topic on all sports outlets. It was a very smart move for Toney no matter what way you look at it
